November TBR

I must confess, I’m feeling VERY overwhelmed at the moment with all of the books I have to read. Anyone else ever feel like that? I had a bunch of library books come in and on top of my own personal books, it was just getting to be TOO MUCH. Too much in fact that I did NO reading this past weekend which is unheard of. So, I decided to dial it back and return most of the library books back to the library and refocus.

I’ve seen a lot of other blogs do a monthly TBR post, and I decided to test it out. I’ve never been one to pick my books ahead of time. I’m mainly a mood reader; often reading 3-4 books at a time of all different genres. But, October was hectic when it came to deciding what to read (hence the above paragraph) so I’m trying something new. Maybe if I pick what books I want to read ahead of time then I won’t have the chaos that was October. *here’s hoping*

Here’s what I’m reading this month

Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

How Do We Look?: The Body, The Divine, and the Question of Civilization
by Mary Beard

One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus

The Awkward Thoughts of W. Kamau Bell (audiobook)
by W. Kamau Bell

I’ve been on the wait-list at my library for One of Us is Lying for months now and of course it comes during the time when I have so many things checked out – oops! So I’m definitely going to get to that one first, along with How Do We Look? because that is also a library book, and I have a limited time with them. I am about a third of the way through The Awkward Thoughts of W. Kamau Bell and I’ve been really enjoying the audiobook so far. It’s been a nice change to listen to on my commutes to and from work.

I’m still plugging away at Outlander, but parts of it are already making me roll my eyes. And I FINALLY started Kingdom of Ash. I’m only about 70 pages in but I’m already nervous. ahhhhh.

What are all of you reading this month?

Until next time!

  1. I really feel you! Sometimes the sheer amount of books I want to read is overwhelming for me too. And have fun with “Kingdom of Ash”. I had it in my mail today and I’m so excited to read it. I’ve to finish ToD fist though. *lol*

    1. ToD took me FOREVER to finish, so I understand. I’m still only about 70 pages in, but since each chapter is a different POV (and there’s more characters than in ToD) it’s moving much quicker. I still don’t see myself finishing soon, just because I have to still like you know, ADULT *eye roll* haha!

      1. It’s a thick book. XD I can’t wait to read KoA! Alone the idea of all those characters in one book! 🙂 I’m worried though because I’m afraid some of my ships might sink or that characters I love will die. 😦

      2. I keep putting KoA down because I’m so nervous- haha! I’ve been reading other books instead 🙂 But I just need to rip the band-aid off and read the damn thing.

  2. I understand how you feel!! Sometimes I need to remind myself that there’s only so much time in a day and I need to slow down and cut myself some slack! (Even though, let’s admit, I’d love to read ALL THE BOOKS and not rest until this impossible task is accomplished!) #thereisnorestforthereader

    1. I’m usually okay when it’s only my books that I have to deal with, but as soon as you start adding library books to the mix…that have a time limit…nope! So I cut back and only started putting one or two on my hold list instead of 15, haha!

    1. Uh, to be honest it’s not for me. I read until about page 70 or so and just can’t get into it. So I decided to abandon it for now and maybe I’ll pick it up later. But there was a specific line in the book that made me just stop reading. I’m going to explain it further in an upcoming blog post, but in short: not for me🤷🏼‍♀️
